Daniel T Hawtree

Dan began working for an estate attorney at 16 years old and graduated to a downtown Chicago law firm at 19. There he prepared tax returns, managed the Principal’s real estate portfolio, and provided business and estate planning. Dan also has experience as controller for +$350mil construction firm, as a CFO in publishing, and as a Comptroller in hazardous waste. He attended Valparaiso University and Northwestern University, and received a Bachelor Degree in Accounting and an MBA in International Finance from DePaul University. In 1990, he left other employment to run his own accounting firm full time. Dan is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant and Certified Financial Planner. His breadth of experience enables him to see the big picture and integrate all the pieces to his clients’ benefit. Dan and his wife, Deb, have two sons. Their son, Matthew, manages Hawtree & Associates’ Frankfort office.
Patricia Seaman
Certified Public Accountant
Growing up in a military family with frequent moves, Trish learned early that challenges are often opportunities in disguise. She entered the accounting field in 1997 as a clerk, and worked her way up to the position of bookkeeper. Prompted by one of her employers, Trish went back to school to prepare for the CPA exam. While holding down two jobs and managing a household that includes her husband and four beautiful daughters, she attended classes at Governors State University and online at University of Illinois Springfield. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor Degree from University of Illinois in 2009, and successfully sat for the CPA exam in 2010. Trish specializes in tax planning and tax preparation for individuals, businesses and non-profits. She especially enjoys the challenge of helping clients that have IRS and state tax issues and has a high rate of success with tax resolution, penalty abatement and offer in compromise.
Marsha Saathoff
QuickBooks Pro Advisor
Marsha graduated from KCC and entered the accounting field working for a roofing/sheet metal company for just over ten years. After the birth of her fourth daughter, Marsha started bookkeeping from home until all her girls were school age. She then joined an accounting office in 1993. In 2003, that accounting firm became Legris & Associates, and it merged with Hawtree & Associates in 2012. This has given Marsha over 40 years’ experience working with individuals and small businesses. She helps many businesses with bookkeeping, payroll, sales tax and tax planning. Marsha has over 15 years’ experience working in QuickBooks and has been a QuickBooks Pro Advisor for the last six years. She is certified in both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online, and is the main reason that Legris, Hawtree & Associates enjoys the reputation of being the go-to place for QuickBooks help. Marsha’s four daughters are all grown up and married, and Marsha and her husband have been blessed with eight grandchildren. She loves spending her free time with them.
Penny Marzke
Office Manager
Penny is the linchpin of the front office. If you come in or phone, her cheery “How may I help you?” will be your greeting. Penny’s attention to detail and skill in organizing make her a great office manager and excellent bookkeeper. Penny grew up in Country Club Hills and graduated from Rich Central High School in Olympia Fields. She has over 30 years’ experience in the customer service field. Penny and Roger, her husband of 28 years, have three children. Penny and her family are big sports fans. They keep busy with the kids’ softball games and bowling and love to watch the White Sox whenever possible.
